Casper Wave Hybrid Mattress Overview
Casper Wave Hybrid Mattress
Casper Wave Hybrid Mattress
Casper’s newest luxury hybrid with supportive coils and plush layers of foam.
The Wave Hybrid features a layer of individually-wrapped springs that provide solid support, giving the bed some durability. They also move individually, so you’re less likely to disturb your partner if you shift during the night. The coils are supported by a firm foam base and perimeter, strengthening the edge support so you can get in and out of the bed more easily and sleep near the edge without feeling like you’re falling out.
The next layer up in the mattress is a layer of gel pods. These targeted pods work to support your entire body and keep your spine aligned. Memory foam sits on top, adding some good contouring and pressure relief. A layer of latex comes next and provides a little bounce, relieves pressure, and helps you shift around on the mattress without getting “stuck” in the foam. Latex is also a naturally cooling material.
The top layer in the Wave Hybrid is a breathable foam, utilizing a perforated design to give maximum airflow. This polyfoam has less give than memory foam, which means it should feel plush without allowing as much sinking (and therefore heat retention). The soft cover is made from a blend of wool, polyester, and rayon that also helps with breathability, keeping humidity away from your body.
In all, Casper’s Wave Hybrid stands 13 inches tall and has five layers of material.
The Wave Hybrid is medium soft, right around a 5 on a 1-10 firmness scale. It errs on the side of soft. Since it’s a hybrid, it does have a coil system that provides some support and bounciness, but the individually-wrapped coils help showcase the contouring properties of the foam layers. The mattress is not so soft that you sink deep down into it, though—a layer of latex offers a little bounce.
The Casper Wave Hybrid costs the following for each mattress size:
Hybrid mattresses are often expensive, and the Wave Hybrid is certainly up there in price. It’s worth noting, though, that the Wave Hybrid is more of a luxury mattress, incorporating several layers of high-quality materials, so you’re getting a good value for the money you spend.

Casper Wave Hybrid Mattress Breakdown
Below, we answer the most common questions about the Casper Wave Hybrid. For more on our mattress review process, check out our methodology.
Is it made from quality materials?
The Casper includes several high-quality materials in its construction. The polyfoam in the mattress is dense and durable, and the layer of gel pods works to support your whole body. The inclusion of latex not only adds bounce to the mattress but also durability, as latex is known to last. The Wave Hybrid is a little expensive, but you can rest assured that based on the materials in the mattress, you’re paying for a solid product that will last for years to come.
How long will it last?
The Wave Hybrid includes both latex and a coil system, and thanks to these durable materials, it should last a long time. The layers of foam used in the mattress are durable, too. While the exact number of years your mattress lasts will depend on how well you treat and care for it, you can most likely expect the Wave Hybrid to last about seven years, if not longer.
How well does it conform to my body?
The Wave Hybrid conforms well thanks to the memory foam in the mattress construction, which provides deep contouring, helping relieve pressure. But you won’t sink too far in—the latex in the mattress offers a little bit of lift so you don’t feel as if you’re sinking. And like other Casper mattresses, the Hybrid works to keep your spine in alignment by using strategic contouring and the targeted gel pods.
Is the edge supportive?
The Wave Hybrid’s edge support is much better than that of its all-foam counterpart (the Wave). The Wave Hybrid includes a dense foam perimeter that’s meant to strengthen the edge support, but because of the bed’s plush, thick top layer, you may feel some sinkage if you sit on the edge of the bed.
Does it sleep hot?
Hybrid mattresses tend to do a better job of circulating air than all-foam beds, and the Wave Hybrid is no exception. While the bed does have memory foam, which is known for retaining heat, the foam is strategically located below the latex layer, which sleeps much cooler. The coil system helps, too—the individually-wrapped coils promote airflow, helping circulate your body heat away. Wool in the cover is also naturally moisture-wicking and temperature neutral.
Will it off-gas when it’s delivered?
All mattresses off-gas to some degree (or, emit an unpleasant smell when they’re taken out of the packaging). But the Wave Hybrid shouldn’t off-gas for long. You’ll definitely smell something in the first few hours after you set the bed up, but if the room is properly ventilated, the smell should dissipate quickly—at the most, maybe lasting for a day.
Will I feel my partner move during the night?
The Wave Hybrid has very good motion isolation, so you probably won’t be disturbed if a partner or pet moves around on the bed. The top layers of foam used in the mattress help to absorb motion so the mattress will stay still and you can keep sleeping.
Who is Best Suited for a Casper Wave Hybrid Mattress?
Is the Wave Hybrid a good fit for you? Here are a few ways to tell.
First up, consider the position in which you (and your partner) most commonly sleep. The Wave Hybrid is an excellent choice for side sleepers, with good pressure relief at the shoulders and hips. The mattress is good for back sleepers, too, but stomach sleepers might struggle to retain proper spinal alignment because the mattress is fairly soft; heavier stomach sleepers in particular may feel too much strain on their lower back. For heavier sleepers who sleep in other positions, however, this mattress could be a good fit because the strong coil system is equipped to handle a heavier weight.
If you sleep with a partner, the Wave Hybrid would be the perfect choice for you both. It has great motion isolation (you won’t be disturbed if the other person moves around), decent edge support, and hybrids in general are a good middle-ground mattress. They offer comfort and pressure relief from the foam, but bounce and support from the coil system, satisfying just about everyone.
As far as firmness, the mattress is on the softer side. So if you need firmer support or simply prefer how a very firm mattress feels, the Wave Hybrid may not be the best fit.
Keep your budget in mind, too. This mattress is fairly expensive and probably not the best “starter” mattress. But if you’re ready for a long-term investment, the Wave Hybrid can be a great option.
Ready to Buy a Casper Wave Hybrid?
Here are a few more considerations to think about before purchasing the Wave Hybrid.
Casper offers a 100-day trial so you can test out the Wave Hybrid in your own home. The 100-day period starts when the mattress is delivered. If the product doesn’t work for you, contact the company, and Casper will send an employee to box up the mattress and remove it for you (either to a charity, or to recycle). You will be refunded in full for what you paid for the mattress.
The Wave Hybrid has a 10-year warranty that applies to the original purchaser only—no resales. It covers:
- Deterioration that causes the mattress to have an indentation that’s greater than one inch and is not caused by an improper bed base
- Physical flaws that cause splits or cracks in the foam of the mattress
- Manufacturing defects in the zipper assembly
The warranty does not cover damage to the mattress (such as burns, cuts, or liquid stains) or normal indentations in the foam from regular use. As warranties go, this is a pretty solid one; just keep a copy of your receipt when you purchase the mattress, and you can rest assured for the next 10 years that your Wave Hybrid is covered should any issues arise.
Availability and Delivery
The Wave Hybrid can be purchased at Casper.com. The company ships via UPS and offers free shipping in the lower 48 U.S. states plus most of Canada; if desired, an in-home delivery service will set up your mattress for you.
