GhostBed Luxe Mattress Overview
GhostBed Luxe Mattress
A memory foam mattress that will actually keep you cool? The GhostBed Luxe does it all.
The GhostBed Luxe mattress is offered in one firmness option, which falls in the middle of the firmness scale. This medium level of firmness is softer than the original GhostBed mattress. The multiple layers of foam provide a balance of plush comfort and proper spinal support. The plush top provides a feeling of sinking in and being hugged by the mattress. Rather than trapping heat and preventing airflow in the way that traditional memory foam mattresses do, the GhostBed Luxe has multiple layers that combat heat retention and increase airflow throughout the mattress. This level of firmness also relieves pressure points.
Due to the complex construction and proprietary blend of cooling foam, the GhostBed Luxe is priced higher than the original GhostBed mattress. It is available in standard sizes Twin through California King. The price for each size, before any promotions or discounts, is listed below.

GhostBed Luxe Mattress Breakdown
To decide whether or not the GhostBed Luxe mattress is right for you, it is important to take the following factors into consideration. For additional information on how we review each mattress, you can take a look at our methodology.
Is it made from quality materials?
The GhostBed Luxe mattress is made from premium quality materials with advanced technology. The foundation of high-density support foam is especially durable. The proprietary foams used in the additional layers of the Luxe mattress are designed to be responsive and resilient. In addition, the GhostBed Luxe mattress is CertiPUR-US certified, meaning the materials are made without the use of harmful chemicals or toxins, heavy metals, or ozone depleters. The mattress is also made in the United States.
How long will it last?
The average lifespan of a mattress is 6 to 8 years, and the GhostBed Luxe is expected to last that long. It is newer to the market, so it has yet to prove its longevity. But the high-quality materials speak to its durability. The high-density foam in the bottom layer should increase the overall lifespan of the mattress. In addition, Nature’s Sleep backs the mattress with a 25-year warranty to cover defects or indentations in the foam. To increase the longevity of the mattress, GhostBed recommends rotating the mattress 180 degrees every six months.
How well does it conform to my body?
The medium firmness of the GhostBed Luxe balances support and comfort. Since it is an all-foam mattress, it conforms closely to the shape of your body. The plush top of the mattress provides the feeling of being hugged, which is common for memory foam mattresses. The specially designed memory foam layers contour to provide pressure point relief while keeping the spine aligned. The GhostBed Luxe is softer and more conforming than the original GhostBed mattress.
Is the edge supportive?
Lack of edge support is common in memory foam mattresses, since the perimeter is typically not reinforced. The GhostBed Luxe has better edge support than the average memory foam mattress. This is due to the thick bottom layer of high-density polyfoam, which provides edge to edge support. You should still feel supported if you sleep near the edge of the bed. However, if you are prone to sitting on the edge of the bed you may notice that the perimeter is not reinforced and sinks slightly under pressure.
Does it sleep hot?
GhostBed markets the Luxe mattress as the “coolest bed in the world” and goes to great lengths to live up to this reputation. The mattress has two stages of cooling working in tandem: the fabric cover, with cooling fibers designed to feel cool to the touch while absorbing and neutralizing heat; and the phase-change material at the core of the mattress, which absorbs heat and prevents it from warming up the mattress. The gel memory foam also adds airflow throughout the mattress and draws heat away from the body. From top to bottom, each layer of the GhostBed Luxe mattress is designed with temperature regulation in mind.
Will it off-gas when it’s delivered?
Though off-gassing is common in memory foam mattresses, it is less noticeable in the GhostBed Luxe mattress. Any smell present when the mattress is first unboxed should dissipate within a few hours. At most, it will last a couple days. Since the mattress is CertiPUR-US certified and made without the use of harmful chemicals, any off-gassing is not harmful.
Will I feel my partner move during the night?
You shouldn’t feel your partner’s movements throughout the night. As the GhostBed Luxe is constructed from multiple layers of foam with a plush top, it has excellent motion isolation. The memory foam absorbs movement, preventing it from transferring across the bed. The mattress is also virtually silent when bearing weight, so you shouldn’t hear movements either.
Who is Best Suited for a GhostBed Luxe Mattress?
It is important for a mattress to feel both comfortable and supportive. While comfort is subjective, it relies heavily on factors like your sleeping position, body type, and personal preferences. Whether or not you sleep with a partner can also affect your mattress choice. To determine whether the GhostBed Luxe is the best mattress for you, take all these factors into consideration.
The GhostBed Luxe mattress provides comfort and support for all sleeping positions. The plush layers of the mattress top cushion shoulders and hips for side sleepers. For those who sleep on their backs, the conforming nature of memory foam supports the lower back while keeping the spine aligned. The medium firmness is also ideal for stomach sleepers, as the mattress is soft enough for the chest area while preventing the hips and abdomen from sinking in. For those who weigh more than 300 pounds, GhostBed recommends selecting the GhostBed Luxe king mattress with matching king foundation for optimal support.
The reduced motion transfer and minimal noise make this mattress ideal for those who share the bed and are easily disturbed by movement and noise throughout the night. The Ghost Bounce foam layer is more resilient than traditional memory foam, which adds a little bounce to the mattress. However, the all-foam construction makes this mattress less ideal for sex compared to an innerspring or hybrid mattress.
It is also important to take your budget into consideration when shopping for a new mattress. The GhostBed Luxe mattress is more expensive than the original GhostBed mattress, making it more of an investment, albeit an investment in comfort.
GhostBed Luxe vs. Original GhostBed
Both the GhostBed Luxe mattress and the original GhostBed mattress are designed to alleviate pressure points and support all sleeping positions. However, the GhostBed Luxe and the original GhostBed mattress differ in construction, firmness, and price. While both mattresses have a high-density polyfoam base that adds to the stability and durability of the mattress, the GhostBed Luxe mattress has additional layers and cooling properties. The GhostBed original mattress features a three layer, mixed-foam construction with aerated latex and gel memory foam. The holes in the aerated latex draw heat away from the body, and the gel memory foam improves circulation throughout the mattress, allowing the original GhostBed to sleep slightly cooler than the average memory foam mattress.
The GhostBed Luxe takes temperature regulation to another level with cooling fibers in the fabric cover, phase-changing Ghost Ice foam, and breathable gel memory foam. The GhostBed Luxe is also softer than the original GhostBed, with a plush mattress top for extra-close contouring. The GhostBed Luxe mattress is significantly more expensive than the original GhostBed mattress, and is backed with a longer 25-year warranty. Both mattresses include a 101-night sleep trial and are made with high-quality materials that are designed to last.
Ready to Buy a GhostBed Luxe?
As the GhostBed Luxe mattress is available exclusively online, it is important to take the following details into consideration.
GhostBed backs the Luxe mattress with a 101-night sleep trial. This trial period begins the day your order is shipped, and includes a 30-night minimum before a return can be initiated. This allows time to try out the mattress and adjust to it before deciding if it is right for you. If you do decide to return the mattress, GhostBed coordinates the pick-up and donation of the mattress and issues a full refund. There is no charge for return shipping.
This sleep trial is not available for orders shipped to Alaska or Hawaii, as these orders are considered final sale. It also does not apply to Amazon orders, which must be returned within 30 days.
GhostBed offers an extended 25-year warranty on the GhostBed Luxe mattress. This warranty is split into two parts and is partially prorated. The warranty specifically covers any indentations in the mattress greater than one inch (not caused by an improper foundation) and any physical flaws causing the foam to crack or split. This warranty does not cover normal wear and tear. The fabric cover of the mattress is covered by a one-year limited warranty that protects against defects in workmanship and materials.
For the first ten years of the mattress warranty, GhostBed will repair or replace the defective mattress. The customer is responsible for all shipping and handling charges associated with the warranty claim. For years 11 through 25, GhostBed will repair the mattress or replace it at a prorated charge, plus shipping costs. The prorated charge starts at 50% of the original price and gradually increases for the remainder of the warranty. Full details can be found here.
