In 2017, Puffy launched the original Puffy mattress. This all-foam mattress quickly became a popular “bed in a box” style. Following the success of the Puffy mattress, the company expanded its product line to include the Puffy Lux mattress, bed frames, and bedding. Puffy products are made entirely in the United States, and the company is environmentally friendly and socially conscious.
The Puffy Lux mattress builds on the original Puffy mattress design, with an added layer of Plush Dual Cloud memory foam. Puffy’s unique combination of foam layers is the result of several years of research and development. Both the Puffy mattress and the Puffy Lux mattress are designed to alleviate pressure points and provide relief for back pain. The added layer in the Puffy Lux mattress provides additional contouring for targeted pressure point relief and proper spinal alignment.
Read on for a closer look at the construction of the Puffy Lux mattress. We also provide details regarding the pricing, warranty, and availability of this memory foam mattress.
Puffy Lux Mattress Overview
Puffy Lux Mattress
An extra layer of memory foam makes the Puffy Lux an ideal mattress to relieve pressure points.
The Puffy Lux mattress is a 12-inch memory foam mattress with four layers of premium foams. The luxury fabric cover is stain-resistant and breathable. The cover can also be removed and washed if needed.
The top layer is Cooling Cloud memory foam, providing a cradling feel that alleviates pressure points. The memory foam is gel-infused and draws heat away from the body for a cooler feel. The second layer is Plush Dual Cloud foam. This layer is exclusive to the Puffy Lux mattress. It contours to the shape of your body and evenly distributes your body weight for pressure relief.
The third layer is a thicker layer of ClimateComfort foam. This unique layer maintains a consistent temperature, as it resists contracting or expanding with temperature changes. Its design allows it to stay cooler in summer months and warmer in winter.
The bottom layer of the Puffy Lux mattress is 7 inches of firm core support foam. This foundation provides additional support. The firmness of the foam improves the durability and edge support of the mattress, while still adapting to pressure and promoting spinal alignment.
The foams used in the Puffy Lux mattress are made using a Variable Pressure Foaming process, which reduces emissions and is more environmentally conscious. The foams are also CertiPUR-US certified and made without the use of ozone depleters, heavy metals, or harmful chemicals.
The Puffy Lux mattress is softer than the original Puffy mattress, due to the added layer of plush memory foam. The Puffy Lux mattress is only available in one firmness option that is considered medium soft. The top layers of memory foam provide a feeling of being hugged by the mattress, while the firm core support layer prevents the feeling of sinking in too far. This medium-soft feel provides cushioning for pressure points, especially your shoulders and hips if you sleep on your side. The Puffy Lux mattress is designed to gently contour to the shape of your body. This allows for even weight distribution, proper spinal alignment, and back pain relief.
The Puffy Lux mattress is more expensive than the original Puffy mattress, as it differs in design and features an added layer of Plush Dual Cloud foam and a luxury cover. Pricing details for each size (before any discounts or promotions) are listed below.

Puffy Lux Mattress Breakdown
When determining whether or not a mattress is right for you, there are multiple factors to consider including materials, lifespan, support, and motion isolation. You can read more about how the Puffy Lux mattress performs below. For a better understanding of how we take these factors into consideration during our mattress review process, you can check out our methodology.
Is it made from quality materials?
Puffy uses high-quality foams that are manufactured in the United States. The foams are created with sustainable manufacturing processes and designed to last. The firm core support base has a higher density that increases the durability of the mattress and improves overall support. The washable cover is also manufactured in the U.S. with OEKO-TEX 100 Standard certified fabric. In addition to high-quality construction techniques, the Puffy Lux mattress is made in small batches so that the foam does not stay compressed for too long. This helps to maintain the integrity of the memory foam.
How long will it last?
The Puffy Lux mattress is relatively new to the market, but the research and development behind the mattress speak to its longevity. The average lifespan of a mattress is 6 to 8 years, and the Puffy Lux mattress should maintain its integrity and support for at least that long. The premium foams and high-quality construction are designed to last and the firm core support base is durable. In addition, Puffy backs the Lux mattress with a lifetime warranty that protects against defects in workmanship or materials, including indentations.
How well does it conform to my body?
The thick layers of memory foam in the Puffy Lux mattress conform closely to the shape of your body. The added layer of Plush Dual Cloud foam is designed for the soft feeling of being hugged by the mattress. All three top layers of foam are contouring, which provide pressure point relief. The layers also cushion your hips, shoulders, neck, and back. The firm core support base is also responsive, adapting to the shape of your body and helping to evenly distribute your body weight.
Is the edge supportive?
Edge support is an important consideration if you sleep or sit on the edge of the bed. Memory foam mattresses tend to lack edge support, as the perimeter is not reinforced and the foam compresses under pressure. The thick, high-density foam base layer of the Puffy Lux improves support throughout the mattress, and you should still feel supported if you sleep on the edge of the bed. The lack of a reinforced perimeter will feel more noticeable if you sit on the edge of the bed as the foam compresses and is slower to rebound to its original shape.
Does it sleep hot?
Closely conforming memory foam has the tendency to sleep hot, as air cannot properly circulate around the body. The Puffy Lux sleeps cooler than traditional memory foam mattresses since the top layer is more breathable. This layer pulls heat away from the body and improves air circulation in the mattress. In addition, the third layer of ClimateComfort foam neutralizes the temperature of the mattress and resists sudden changes in temperature.
Will it off-gas when it’s delivered?
Memory foam mattresses are known to off-gas as a result of the synthetic materials used and the packaging. Since the Puffy Lux mattress is an all-foam mattress that is compressed and vacuum-sealed for shipment, there may be a noticeable smell when the mattress is first unboxed. The foams used are CertiPUR-US certified and the cover is OEKO-TEX Standard 100 certified, so the mattress is made without any harmful chemicals. Any off-gassing is not considered to be harmful and should dissipate within a few hours in a well-ventilated room. The smell may last a few days at most.
Will I feel my partner move during the night?
The Puffy Lux mattress does a great job of isolating movement, so you shouldn’t feel your partner’s movements throughout the night. The thick layers of memory foam absorb motion so it doesn’t transfer across the bed. The all-foam construction is also silent when bearing weight. This makes the Puffy Lux a great choice for those who share the bed and are easily disturbed by movement or noise.
Who is Best Suited for a Puffy Lux Mattress?
How comfortable a mattress feels depends on personal factors that include firmness preference, sleeping position, and body weight. The Puffy Lux mattress is a medium-soft mattress that provides the feeling of sinking into the mattress, rather than sleeping on top of the mattress. The contouring foam and pressure point relief make this an ideal mattress for those who suffer from back pain or aching joints.
Those who prefer a plush mattress will appreciate the soft feel of the memory foam top layers. This is especially ideal for side sleepers of light to average body weight, as the shoulders and hips need additional cushioning. The medium-soft firmness is also supportive for back sleepers who weigh less than 230 pounds, as the added layer provides targeted support to keep the spine aligned. The layers of foam contour to the shape of your body, providing lower back and neck support. Stomach sleepers should still feel supported by the Puffy Lux mattress, though those who weigh more than 230 pounds may find that their stomach and hips sink in too far to feel comfortable.
The memory foam layers of the Puffy Lux mattress isolate motion well, absorbing both movement and sound. This makes it ideal for light sleepers who are easily disturbed by noise or motion throughout the night. However, the medium-soft feel and all-foam construction can inhibit movement, making it less than ideal for sex.
The Puffy Lux mattress is also more expensive than the original Puffy mattress, making it more of an investment. The added layer of contouring foam provides superior pressure point relief and the luxury fabric cover is an added layer of comfort.
Those looking to invest in a higher-end memory foam mattress designed to provide full-body support and back pain relief should definitely consider the Puffy Lux mattress.
